Norman Hollyn

ACE Editor, Heathers Professor and Inaugural Holder, Michael Kahn Endowed Chair in Editing, USC’s School of Cinematic Arts

Norman Hollyn has been described as a thought leader around issues in both the old and new media worlds. He is a long-time film, television and music editor (his last film was SHOT, with Noah Wyle), a Full Professor at USC’s School of Cinematic Arts, and is the Inaugural Holder of the Michael Kahn Endowed Chair. He is a member of AMPAS, ACE, IATSE, and is Past-President of UFVA, the largest association of production-based cinema university professors

He is a frequently published magazine and book author, created the first aesthetics-based course for lynda.com, and is a frequent speaker at conferences and conventions such as NAB, HPA, CILECT (an association of the top film schools around the world), and EditFest, as well as in countries such as China, Japan, Germany, Brazil, Mexico, Jordan, Malaysia, and Israel. He teaches international workshops and sits on Advisory Boards for New Media and education companies and has lectured on storytelling for many private companies.

He specializes in curriculum design and has worked with international institutions to build or redesign their media programs. He is presently helping to build a new program in Emerging Media Arts at the University of Nebraska, and for New Media programs internationally. In addition he is advising companies in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in the Media and Entertainment worlds.

Kevin D. Ross

ACE Emmy Nominated Editor, Stranger Things and Halt and Catch Fire

Kevin D. Ross, ACE, is an Emmy-nominated television and feature picture editor, most noted for his work on Stranger Things and Halt and Catch Fire.

Kevin grew up in the Midwest and earned a Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Missouri. However, on the day of graduation, he was accepted into the film program at the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts. He quickly packed up his car and moved to Los Angeles, eventually earning his MFA in film production.

Since then Kevin has edited more than 115 hours of television and 7 features. Before becoming a full-time editor, he assisted on numerous well-known movies such as The Truman Show, Mrs. Doubtfire, Speed, and Vanilla Sky.

Kevin is an elected editor representative on the board of directors for the Motion Pictures Editor Guild, IATSE 700, and last year he was invited to become a member of American Cinema Editors (ACE).

He has been honored for his editing of both seasons of Stranger Things with two ACE Eddie Award nominations and an Emmy nomination.

Most recently, Kevin edited the new season of X-Files, and is currently editing a new tv series called Sacred Lies.

More importantly, Kevin is happily married to Janet, an assistant editor who’s taking a break from post-production to raise their 10-yr old twins.

Zack Arnold, ACE is an award-winning Hollywood film & TV editor (Unsolved, Empire, Shooter, Burn Notice, Glee), documentary director (GO FAR: The Christopher Rush Story), father of 2, a Lynda.com instructor, and creator of the Optimize Yourself program. Zack’s professional background includes editing feature films and scripted dramatic television, theatrical trailers, as well as directing, producing, and editing documentaries. In his “spare time” he is currently training to be on American Ninja Warrior.

Having spent the last fifteen years battling numerous health problems stemming from being trapped behind a desk for long hours (in the dark), with his ‘Optimize Yourself’ podcast, blog, and online courses, Zack now helps helps ambitious creative people better manage their time, energy, and attention so they can get sh*t done and follow through with the most meaningful goals in their life…without sacrificing their health (or their sanity) in the process.

Jeff I. Greenberg has nearly two decades of experience as a Post-Production consultant and Master Instructor (trainer for other trainers) for Adobe, Apple, and Avid, specializing in the areas of editorial, workflow, compositing, sound, color grading and compression.

Jeff is the owner of JGreenberg Consulting and for a decade was the Principal Instructor for Future Media Concepts. Consistently voted as one of the top seminar speakers/interviewers, audience’s feedback includes depth of subjects covered, approachability and student-centered teaching that helps keep them up to date on industry standards. Jeff teaches seminars at events such as NAB, IBC, CES and Inter BEE. He’s the chair for the Editors Retreat, an annually held exclusive getaway for editors.

Jeff is a published author of several books on the subject of editing and post-production. He recently finished a book on Adobe Premiere Pro Studio Techniques (Adobe Press). Jeff writes for various blogs and creates training materials for Lynda.com and macProVideo.com. He’s happy to talk to you about consulting and helping you find solutions for your training needs.

Monica is an Editor based in Los Angeles and is a Picture Editor Member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, as well as an Affiliate Member of American Cinema Editors. She has edited all types of content: documentary, reality, interview shows, game shows, show open sizzles, and short form packages. She has worked for several television networks in addition to independent features that have been released by Miramax, Lionsgate and Anchor Bay Entertainment. Her work for the E! Red Carpet Awards Season Coverage has been seen by millions in over 100 countries around the world. In her spare time she produces/Co-Hosts an industry podcast called Going Postal Show (www.goingpostalshow.com).

She is currently working on scripted television shows, including Minority Report (Fox), Supergirl (Warner Bros Television), Preacher (AMC), The Blacklist: Redemption (NBC) and Colony (USA/Legendary). This last year she also worked on the critically acclaimed Sci-Fi series, Altered Carbon, for Netflix.

Known for her fiery nature and deep desire to make yoga accessible, Neda’s teaching style reflects her passion and playfulness as well as her dedication to the science and discipline of yoga. Her classes are an engaging blend of clear, direct, alignment-based instruction and skillful sequencing; expect hard work and play with generous servings of sweat and laughter. Neda is the owner of Tough Love Yoga, the creator of Metal Yoga, and a yogahour teacher trainer. She maintains an active teaching schedule locally and internationally, including private and group classes, workshops, retreats, festivals, and teacher trainings. Neda has trained over 100 yoga instructors and is the Program Director of Tough Love Yoga Teacher Training, which offers 200 hour and 300 hour alignment-based hatha yoga programs registered with the Yoga Alliance.

Neda’s love for teaching is second only to her passion for learning, believing that being a student of yoga has and continues to transform the capacity and potential of her mind, body, and heart. She has been practicing yoga for over 18 years and is a devoted student of her beloved guru Ma Jaya Sati Bhagavati and her teacher and mentor Darren Rhodes.

Bram earned his Bachelor of Arts from Georgia State University with a major in his first passion, Philosophy, before continuing on to pursue his second passion, flying. In 2005, with his instrument rating pilot license in hand he diverted for a career path in another field of intense interest, professional display technology. For the past 13 years Bram has focused on bringing innovative display solutions to market for production, post-production, and broadcast needs. Luisa Winters is an internationally celebrated pilot, instructor, presenter, and musician. An accomplished videographer, editor, 3D animator and graphics designer, she has created and edited scores of broadcast video and web projects for corporate, government, and educational, commercial and private clients.

Luisa is a private pilot, and can often be seeing flying her club’s airplane out of Freeway Airport (W00), near Washington D.C.

An Adobe Master Instructor, Luisa has been an educator for over 30 years teaching Adobe, Apple and production classes for clients in government, military and private organizations.

Luisa specializes in training and consulting for our brave men and women of the military. Having trained hundreds of students from Combat Camera, DMA, Air National Guard, Marines and others, makes Luisa the ideal instructor who understands the needs of the students.

Since 2002, Nick has worked with domestic and international brands, offering a wide variety of video production and motion graphic services. He has worked with clients such as Proctor & Gamble, Diageo, Virgin Mobile, and Mastercard. He was editor of the feature documentary ‘My Father and the Man in Black’ that can be found on iTunes.

Nick’s training can be found online through Adobe, Lynda and Boris FX. When he is not teaching, travelling, or creating video content, Nick can be found in a box fit class.

Steve Martin is the creative force behind Ripple Training and has been using and teaching Final Cut Pro since 1999. Since Final Cut Pro’s introduction, he has introduced thousands of people to Final Cut Pro through his classes, workshops and training products. He is the co-host of MacBreak Studio; a weekly web show focusing on Final Cut Pro post production and has consulted and/or trained for Apple, Disney, Hulu, Canon and other companies.

A decade into a professional career, international brands trust his distinctive style – a marriage of stunning editing, compelling storytelling and a mastery of color correction and sound.

Together with editor / DP Josua Stäbler and colorist / DP Kyrill Ahlvers, Thomas established his company SILBERSALZ FILM as an one-stop-shop for strategic marketing, campaign development, film production and postproduction services, both digital and analog.

Thomas’ driving motivation as an editor is to reveal the emotional potential of a story to unleash the full potential of his client’s brands.

Leo graduated from the School of Science and Mass Communication at the University of Costa Rica, with a focus on Media Production. He also received a Specialization in Film Post Production at Centro de Capacitacion Cinematografica in Mexico DF.

His portfolio includes editing, color and post-production work on several short films such as Bajamar (2009), El Hijo de la 40 (2010; second place winner in the AXn Film Festival), Irene (2013), and Norma (2013)—which shared the Short Film Award at the 2013 Film Festival in Costa Rica.

Leo also worked on several features including Password (2000), Mujeres en el Acto (2002), Del amor y otros demonios (2009), Luces de Esperanza (documentary; 2010) Puro Mula (fiction; 2011), Por las Plumas (fiction;2013), Dos Aguas (fiction; 2014), Viaje (fiction, 2015), Presos (fiction; 2015), First Lady of the Revolution (2016), Violeta al fin (fiction; 2017), and Keylor Navas la película (2017).

Leo regularly hosts lectures on post-production, editing, and color correction, grading and finishing. Since 2011, he has served as the Academic Coordinator of the first Institute for Video and Audio Post Production in Costa Rica.
